Digitisation and Management
The research field Digitisation and Management investigates the impact the digitisation of processes and products on companies has at management level and vice versa.
Thanks to technologies such as social computing, mobile and cloud computing, analytics and the Internet of Things, companies can design their processes more efficiently. They can improve their products, develop new fields of business and establish disruptive business models that begin with a small niche innovation and go on to trigger a market revolution. But digitisation also harbours risks: new, digital competitors enter the market and force companies to take action.
Digitisation not only has an impact at technical level but especially at management level: in order to make use of their chances and to handle risks adequately, management processes have to change.
For companies this leads to many challenges, forming the focus of our practice-oriented research activities.
